I’m a freelance editor and writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. My decades-long journalism career has included stints as the Editor-in-Chief, Co-Editor, and Managing Editor of the East Bay Express in Oakland and the Managing Editor of The Stranger in Seattle. My byline has also appeared in The Nation, the San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly, Bay Nature, Alta Journal, High Country News, and KoreAm Journal. I'm currently a contributing editor to Bay Nature magazine.

I’ve won awards from the Association of Alternative Newsmedia, the Society of Professional Journalists' Northern California chapter, the Los Angeles Press Club, and the San Francisco Peninsula Press Club.
